The Isle of Wight House Church has been established since 2004. We are a group of family and individuals who have a passion for the Gospel first and foremost, as well as for Biblical house church.
What do we mean by this?
We hope by God’s Grace to mirror the Biblical model of church, which is laid out in the New Testament. As a group of like-minded believers, we see this as the Lord’s model for church, with all the benefits that it entails. We respect all orthodox churches, but choose to follow the Lord’s blueprint when it comes to fellowship and the Lord’s Supper. Many of us have come from orthodox churches, and we find that we prefer the model of house church, where we meet in small groups of 10-20 people to worship, study, share food, and have fellowship with one another.
We meet on Sundays to worship God with music and singing, and to encourage each other in our faith. Afterwards we partake of the bread and the wine, passing a glass around as the disciples would have at the Last Supper. After this we sit back and relax, and enjoy a home-cooked meal and the fellowship of our brothers and sisters. Once during the week, we meet for Bible study, where one of the church elders guides us, chapter by chapter, through one of the books of the Bible. We tend to alternate between Old and New Testament books in this way.
